Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site owners. Cookies set by DivineMates are first-party cookies. Cookies set by other services embedded on our site are third-party cookies.

This policy explains what cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences. For broader information on how we handle personal data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

2. Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be disabled without affecting core functionality. They do not require your consent.

  • Session cookie: Keeps you logged in as you navigate between pages. Deleted when you close your browser.
  • Age gate cookie: Records that you have confirmed you are 18 or over. See Section 5 for details.
  • CSRF token: Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks. Essential for form security.

Functional Cookies

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation. They may be set by us or by third-party providers.

  • Theme preference: Remembers whether you have selected dark or light mode.
  • Language preference: Stores your selected language if you change the default.

Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. All IP addresses are anonymised before being sent to Google. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.

  • _ga: Distinguishes unique users. Expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_*: Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4. Expires after 2 years.

Analytics cookies are only set if you have not opted out. You can opt out at any time via your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

3. Third-Party Cookies

When you make a payment on DivineMates, you are redirected to CCBill’s or Segpay’s secure payment pages. These processors may set their own cookies on their domains for fraud prevention and session management purposes. These cookies are governed by CCBill’s and Segpay’s respective privacy policies. We do not have access to or control over these cookies.

Any other embedded third-party services (e.g. customer support widgets) will be identified with a notice at the point of use, and their cookies will only be loaded with your consent where required.

4. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling essential cookies will affect the functionality of this site, including your ability to log in. Below are links to cookie management instructions for the most common browsers:

5. The Age Gate Cookie

When you confirm that you are 18 or over on the age verification screen, we set a session cookie to record your confirmation. This cookie is:

  • Session-based only— it is cleared automatically when you close your browser.
  • Not retained beyond your current browsing session.

This means the age gate will reappear each time you open a new browser session. This is intentional and by design. We do not use persistent age gate cookies as doing so could allow minors to bypass the gate on a shared or family device. If you are repeatedly prompted to confirm your age, please check that your browser is not clearing session cookies mid-session (some privacy browser extensions do this).
